Safaris Inspiring Change

YouR safari itinerary

Hello bruce, AL and ALL!

Thank you for your patience in receiving this updated itinerary. Following our conversation and the changes incorporated, I think this strikes a perfect and unique balance.

Many powerful and awe-inspiring words have been used to describe the African safari experience. To be honest though, none of them can do justice to the possibilities of a trip to the mother continent. From the natural wonder of the Victoria Falls to the unspoiled national parks of the Middle and Lower Zambezi, there truly is something for everyone. Be it paddling or bushwalks, photography or tiger fishing, there is much promise for this trip to be one of your life’s great accomplishments.

Check in: 21st May 2028
Check out: 24th May 2028
Inclusions: Fully inclusive (excl. gratuities, items of a personal nature)

Opened in 2019, Deteema Springs is an intimate camp set in one of Hwange National Park’s most striking wildlife areas.

The camp sits on a slight rise above the springs, blending quietly into the surrounding rock and bush. Its design follows a simple philosophy: less is more. The tents are smaller and more understated than traditional safari tents, but remain comfortable and well appointed, with hot and cold running water, flush toilets and private decks.

The main area is raised on decks overlooking Deteema Springs, creating a natural place to sit and watch wildlife move through the landscape below.

Guests can explore the area on foot or by game vehicle, with the camp offering a strong sense of immersion in a wilder and less polished corner of Hwange.

Deteema Springs is best suited to travellers who value intimacy, simplicity and the feeling of being properly close to the bush.

24th may, 2028

Transfer: After a short road transfer, you’ll board another light aircraft flight from Hwange NP to Mana Pools National Park. Then, it’s a short run to Mana’s floodplain at Mana Sands on the banks of the Zambezi, where I will join you for the remaining nights of your safari.

Accommodation: Mana Sands

Duration of Stay: 5 nights
Rooms: 2 luxury tents
Check in: 24th May 2028
Check out: 29th May 2028
Inclusions: Fully inclusive (excl. gratuities, items of a personal nature)
Tour Leader: James from Diwa Zambezi

Mana Sands is a retreat into the wild heart of Zimbabwe, set within a private concession on the western edge of Mana Pools National Park, with the Zambezi River flowing below camp.

You will be staying at Main Camp, which blends relaxed luxury with the raw beauty of the Mana Pools landscape. The tented suites are unusually spacious and feature glass doors, outdoor baths, double vanities, private plunge pools and air-conditioning, a rare comfort in this part of Zimbabwe.

This section of the safari will also be personally accompanied by James from Diwa Zambezi.

Your time at Mana Sands will be guided by Siraaj, one of Zimbabwe’s pre-eminent professional guides and someone with a long and trusted history with Diwa Zambezi. His knowledge of Mana Pools, its wildlife and its rhythms will add real depth to the experience.

Activities include guided walks, game drives, limited night drives, canoeing and seasonal fishing. Days often end in the golden light of the Zambezi floodplain, with sundowners by the river and stories shared around the fire.

Mana Sands is very comfortable but properly wild.

29th may, 2028

Transfer: A very interesting transfer on this day, that being via boat from Mana Pools down to the Mpata Gorge - a stunning part of the Zambezi.

Accommodation: Galamuka

Duration of Stay: 2 nights
Rooms: 2 deluxe tents
Check in: 29th May 2028
Check out: 31st May 2028
Inclusions: Fully inclusive (excl. gratuities, items of a personal nature)
Tour Leader: James from Diwa Zambezi

We are principally visiting Galamuka to cross the border between Zimbabwe and Zambia. James will continue to accompany you.

We’ll have a full day here to take in very different and dramatic scenery, that being the dominance of the basalt gorge.

This will also be a chance for Bruce to land the famed tigerfish, and we are sure to have an incredible day on the river here.

31st may, 2028

Transfer: We’ll transfer 50km by boat back up river, arriving at your final (and perhaps most grand) camp.

Accommodation: Dulini Anabezi

Duration of Stay: 4 nights
Rooms: 2 luxury tents
Check in: 31st May 2028
Check out: 4th June 2028
Inclusions: Fully inclusive (excl. gratuities, items of a personal nature)
Tour Leader: James from Diwa Zambezi

We’ve included Dulini Anabezi following our conversation, particularly around wanting something remote, wildlife-rich and memorable in its own right.

Set in a secluded eastern corner of Lower Zambezi National Park, the camp sits among iconic Winterthorn forest on the banks of the Zambezi River, well away from the busier areas of the park. Its 12 luxury tents are raised on wooden walkways, each with a private plunge pool and sweeping views across the floodplain.

This is also the camp behind one of our favourite Diwa Zambezi stories: leopards are known to use the elevated walkways between the rooms. It is a perfect example of just how immersed in the landscape Anabezi feels.

Game viewing can be enjoyed by day or night, on foot, by vehicle, canoe or boat, with catch-and-release fishing and exceptional birding also available.

For travellers wanting privacy, strong wildlife and a real sense of being deep in the bush, Dulini Anabezi is a fitting final chapter to the safari.

30th may, 2028

Transfer: After breakfast, farewelling James, and a short road transfer, you’ll board a light aircraft to Lusaka, where you’ll connect with your onward journey.

We wish you a safe journey home and hope that you’ve genuinely had the trip of a lifetime!
